I'm bringing bear spray this year, but i've ridden parts of the route on previous years and seen bears but have never had an issue. They usually see me and immediately bolt into the bush. Still gets your heart racing either way :)
Ive encountered many black and a single grizzly on this route. They will be there at different points and they wont want to interact with you. That said I travel with bangers to warn the more curious ones (The guys that wont move). And spray for close encounters (Ive never had to use). I also listen to music from a bluetooth speaker as I ride and whoop as I come around corners and at night to announce my presence. Watch for tracks and scat on the trail and be loud but again they will want nothing to do with you so long as you both don't surprise each other.
